About
Grow medicine

THE PURPOSE OF

Grow Medicine is Two-fold:

1.

“Benefit Sharing” through Donation:

Share the benefits you receive from plant medicines by contributing to the biocultural conservation of these medicines.

Benefit Sharing Through Donation-Based Platform

  1. Grow Medicine makes it easily accessible for the psychedelic and medicine community to make a donation to Indigenous-led organizations.
  2. These organizations aim to strengthen Indigenous communities in their efforts to conserve keystone plant medicines and traditional knowledge they rely on for their healing and cultural survival.
  3. Your donation supports Indigenous rights and sovereignty, plant medicine conservation, biocultural diversity, and community health so these communities can thrive for generations to come.
  4. We help to empower the psychedelic community to make choices that respect and honor the ecologies and cultures that make these medicine experiences available and possible.

This is how we embody the practice of “Right Relationship.”

2.

Education:

Donation is just the tip of the iceberg. Grow Medicine aims to broaden and shift our perspectives and understanding around the impact of our choices and the threats these biocultures face.

Grow Medicine Works To:

  • Inform and educate the psychedelic and medicine community about the impact of our choices around plant medicine consumption, including the risks and threats these biocultures face.
  • Inspire the community to shift from an extractive, reductionistic mentality to a more whole systems approach to plant medicine conservation that understands the symbiotic relationship between plants, land, culture and communities.
  • Educate the community about best practices, the importance of understanding what benefit-sharing means and how we, as individuals benefiting from these experiences, can participate in it.

The educational content we share through Grow Medicine is in alignment with

Indigenous voices and models right-relationship principles with indigenous communities and ancestral traditions.

All content has been approved by the IMC Education Committee, an advisory council consisting of Indigenous representatives from each of the keystone medicines and allies.

Grow Medicine

PROVIDES PSYCHEDELIC ENTHUSIASTS AN EASILY ACCESSIBLE WAY TO ENGAGE IN BENEFIT SHARING

In alignment with specific requests of Indigenous communities.

This is how we stay in Right Relationship and contribute to a future we can all be proud of.

GROW MEDICINE is a PROJECT OF THE INDIGENOUS MEDICINE CONSERVATION FUND (IMC FUND).

IMC FUND:
An unprecedented Approach

The typical philanthropic approach to reciprocity is to simply give money to organizations…

What the IMC Fund is doing is very different.

The Indigenous Medicine Conservation Fund is an unprecedented, indigenous-led project.

At it’s core, the fund is a vehicle for strengthening “allyship” between funders and indigenous communities by building trust through relationships, and offering solidarity-based support to Indigenous communities.

Mission of the
IMC FUnd

is to ensure a future where Indigenous Peoples, their medicines and knowledges thrive for generations to come.

By partnering with philathropists globally, the IMC Fund is raising $20 million by 2023 to support over 28 Indigenous led initiatives across the 5 keystone medicines and their biocultures.

The IMC Fund is here to fulfill its mission until the future and safety of these precious biocultures is ensured. All fund raising, on-the-ground assessments and due-diligence will be ongoing until that happens.

IMC Fund commitment to the mission in action

IMC FUND works to:

  1. Build a new philanthropic paradigm of right relationship and trust between Indigenous communities and funders.
  2. Ensure conservation strategies are Indigenous-led and strengthen the core principles of Unity, Territory, Autonomy and sustaining culture.
  3. Advance the realization and recognition of Indigenous Peoples rights.
  4. Work to ensure strategies are in place that reduces harm from increasing global pressure and strengthens traditional medicines and the Indigenous cultures that steward them.
  5. Amplify the voices of traditional knowledge holders and the crucial importance of the health of their cultures for humanity and the planet.
  6. Create a mechanism for benefit sharing for the psychedelic industry and the broader community – this is where Grow Medicine comes in.

Grow Medicine is a living example of the mission of the Fund in action, by providing the broader community an opportunity to be in right relationship with the traditional knowledge holders from which these medicines come.

GROW MEDICINE ACTS AS An INTERFACE to build trust BETWEEN THE PSYCHEDELIC AND MEDICINE COMMUNITY and INDIGENOUS TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE HOLDERS.

The IMC FUnd Has a unique
governance structure

It is comprised of three committees to inclusively represent Indigenous and western expertise on the:

1. conservation implementation
of each medicine
2. the operational management
of the fund
3. the spiritual integrity of its
overall processes

Grow Medicine receives guidance and support from the “IMC Education Committee”, which is a sub-committee made up of members from the larger conservation committee advising the IMC Fund
